$60 Weekly Grocery Challenge

What is the $60 Weekly Grocery Challenge?

Each week my goal is to spend approximately $60 for food, drinks, groceries, toiletries and medicine for my family of five. Then, I report on this blog the items that I bought, the best sales and coupon match-ups that I found and hopefully by doing so, help you stretch your family’s grocery budget, as well!

How Did I Do This Week?

Harris Teeter Trip – Spent $48.64

Not pictured – I also picked up a gallon of milk, case of bottled water, sunscreen and two bottles of ibuprofen during my Target trip, bringing my total spending for the week right at $61.

From My Garden

Our garden is doing great! The pictures above show just a sampling of the vegetables it is currently producing – cucumbers, yellow squash, zucchini, green peppers, okra and finally…the tomatoes are starting to turn red. We should have a slew of tomatoes in the near future, based on the amount of green ones currently on the vines.

We have had plenty of fresh vegetables recently to use for ourselves, share with family and friends and freeze for a later date.

Harris Teeter Shopping Trip

Spent $48.64, Saved $108.65

Harris Teeter has some wonderful deals this week!

First, I want to point out the great E-VIC member deals. I picked up the two containers of Breyer’s ice cream for only $.47 each (E-VIC member price $1.97 (limit 2) paired with the $1.50 off coupon that I posted at the beginning of July), Tropicana Farm Stand juice for $.97 (E-VIC member price $1.97 paired with $1.00 off coupon from the newspaper) and the Coca-Cola Zero canned drinks for $1.97 (E-VIC member price – limit 2). These happen to be my husband’s favorite (and his version of his “morning coffee,” so I was happy to pick up two 12 packs for such as great price).

In addition, I also picked up free Angel Soft tissues, free Golden Grahams cereal, free House-Autry cornbread mix, $.50 Planter’s peanuts, $.59 Fisher almonds, $.64 Old Orchard 100% apple juice, $1.00 Butterball turkey bacon, $1.00 Huggies wipes, $1.49 Tampax tampons, $1.75 Angel Soft toilet paper, 93% lean ground beef for less than $4.00 per package and many other great deals.

Click here for my long list of Harris Teeter coupon matchups through 7/22!

(Note – In addition to the food coupons, I also used a competitor coupon for $6.00 off my grocery total and paid part of the total with a $25 Harris Teeter gift card that a very sweet friend surprised me with for watching her son recently. So, my actual out-of-pocket amount was $23.64 at Harris Teeter).
